Restorative practice has been shown to be an effective tool in transforming school climate for schools that see it as part of their educational mission to teach appropriate behavior and to work to develop and maintain a trusting relationship between teachers and students.
While this approach can dramatically reduce punitive discipline, there is no guarantee that these overall improvements will eliminate the differential treatment in discipline and differential access to learning opportunities that exist in many school systems.
This webinar looks at how restorative practice, when applied with these concerns in mind, can help address such disparities by combining equity-oriented prevention and intervention to “resolve and educate” not “deport and discipline.”
