This institute will teach you how to employ restorative practices such as restorative conferences to respond effectively to serious incidents. Acquire valuable skills for responding to trauma and grief. Explore the grieving process from a fresh and practical perspective. Address the essential issue of self-care. Learn how to facilitate restorative conferences — structured meetings that bring together everyone affected by an incident of wrongdoing or conflict to discuss how they have been affected and decide how to repair the harm.

Understand how the Restorative Practice Framework, as a way of thinking and being, facilitates the development of a more connected, safer communities and enhances teaching and learning.  Although the focus of this training is in schools, as a univeral framework it has application in many and varied settings such as justice and community agencies. This training is foundational for further restorative practices training.

Learn the value and process of circles—practical and effective tools for creating a positive climate in classrooms and other settings, which you will be able to use immediately. This session is paired with the Introduction to the Restorative Practice Framework training.

IIRP Canada conducts a three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) to teach experienced practitioners how to facilitate the "Facilitating Restorative Conferences" training. Once trained, participants will be licensed trainers and able to provide these trainings within their agency or limited geographical area.
