Peggy Barrette, M.Ed.

Instructor and Implementation Coach (Français/English)

Peggy Barrette is a bilingual IIRP Canada instructor and implementation coach whose commitment to restorative practices is rooted in more than three decades of experience in public education. She first became involved with IIRP Canada in 2017, when she jumped at the opportunity to translate materials into French — a project that aligned with her belief in the transformative power of relationship-centered practice. Having seen firsthand the impact of restorative approaches on school culture and student experience, Peggy continues to champion this work today.

Over her 33-year career, Peggy served as a teacher of kindergarten through grade 8 and as a principal, working fluently in both French and English. Her passion lies in supporting schools and organisations to center the voices of those who have traditionally been marginalized or silenced. She is committed to helping adults understand their students more deeply so that they can foster learning communities grounded in care, empathy, and belonging.

Peggy holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in French, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration, all from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She remains inspired by the potential of restorative practices to create safer, more inclusive spaces where every learner feels seen and supported.
